The Fighting Gaze

From where comes this scene? Who are these two women? Of what time and history, personal and country? To think, what country this and this land? On what do their  eyes settle? With gaze not quite queen. Not feral. Not guarded. Nor assaulting. Just firm and standing ground. Open ground. 

 

In the middle of documenting a camp for women performers at The Art Farm, camp founder Tinu Verghis and instructor Anna Adam got down to working their own Fighting Gaze. Both being consummate performers of all manner, an afternoon flew by mucking about with guns (which they can well use) as a metaphor for powerful, yet gracious female gaze.
