Portraits
Culled from various shoots, these are some of my portrait works. Some from unguarded moments of quiet afternoons, some from hard-won comfort zones slowly built over weeks, some playful and some staged.
I find portraiture tough in the way love can be tough. There is tension here. The first move is mine, admitting a fascination, requesting an intimacy that does not come easy. I need to open my own boundaries even as I am stepping into theirs.
We commune. We exchange vulnerability, trust and confidence. I may try to make my presence fade while working, but my wild interest in my subject reaches out.
In the end, I am in love with my portraits and my memory of making them.
